Peggy and Fred in Hell: The Fold (1985–2013) by Leslie Thornton, 95 min, 16mm/video on video, United States

A unique screening of the completed cycle of Leslie Thornton’s dystopian, post-structural landmark Peggy and Fred in Hell, an epic serial continuously shot, edited, and re-edited over nearly 30 years. This version ends with the United States premiere of the closing episode, The Fold, in which Peggy and Fred, children “raised by television” and stranded in a post-apocalyptic landscape of cultural detritus, leave the 21st Century behind in a sentient pile of electrical noise. The presentation will include multiple screens, in an updated version of its original form as a multi-screen event.
