Caroline Chandler
With a hierophant’s discernment of symbolism, it is my ambition to investigate the constructed self through domestic materials and practice. My interest in the domestic is formal and metaphorical. My most recent paintings are faux flannel blankets encased in scatological opulence. Intuitively I collage culturally loaded detritus upon densely constructed surfaces in an attempt to queer form and content. Utilizing the poetics of cliche, I complicate signifiers through the juxtaposition of tactile kitsch materials in the effort to challenge superficial mimetic relationships and embellish mythological narratives.
