During MoMA PS1’s 50th Anniversary Block Party, on the occasion of Touch the Heart in Homeroom, attend a screening of Fly in Power, a film that follows the community of Asian and migrant massage parlor workers, sex workers, and allies in Red Canary Song. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, the film highlights practices of care, survival, and community amidst Red Canary Song’s fight against incarceration and trafficking systems. The screening runs 78 minutes and will be followed by a panel discussion between organizers from the collective and Centro Corona.

Red Canary Song is a grassroots collective led by migrant massage and sex workers across the Asian diaspora, and formed in 2017 in response to the death of Yang Song, a migrant Chinese massage worker killed during a police raid in Queens. Since then, Red Canary Song has expanded into a mutual aid network that foregrounds the experiences of directly impacted workers, providing groceries, cash assistance, translation services, and connection to legal support and person-first health care.
