Building Operations Manager
Summary
The Manager of Building Operations plays a critical role in overseeing the daily operation and maintenance of a 100,000-square-foot, indoor/outdoor cultural campus. The role emphasizes the management of MEP (Mechanical Electrical Plumbing) systems and the direct supervision of a building maintenance team. This position ensures optimal performance of all facility systems while maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and partners. The Manager collaborates closely with internal departments and external vendors to support museum programs, events, and operational needs.
Supervision
The Manager of Building Operations reports to the Director of Building Operations and directly supervises a team of building maintainers and maintenance technicians. This position requires strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills to work collaboratively across departments in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and ensure daily, reliable operation of all MEP systems, including HVAC, Building Management Systems (BMS), lighting, elevators, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems.
• Lead and supervise the building maintenance team: assign daily tasks, set priorities, conduct regular check-ins, support professional development, and ensure accountability.
• Serve as a responsive and proactive internal service provider—anticipating and resolving issues affecting staff workspaces, event setups, gallery environments, and visitor-facing areas.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical building issues in collaboration with technicians and third-party service providers.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans and standard operating procedures to ensure long-term sustainability and optimal performance of systems and infrastructure.
• Coordinate and manage vendor contracts and performance across multiple building-related services: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, waste, janitorial, elevator services, landscaping, and pest control.
• Manage the work order system, ensuring tasks are prioritized appropriately, tracked efficiently, and documented accurately to inform planning and reporting.
• Assist in the planning, budgeting, and oversight of capital projects and minor renovations, working with architects, engineers, and contractors to represent facilities interests and ensure constructability and maintainability.
• Track, organize, and process all facilities-related invoices, contracts, warranties, and compliance documentation in collaboration with finance and procurement.
• Monitor and maintain building supplies and maintenance inventory; ensure materials are available for routine and emergency needs.
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Provide after-hours and weekend response support for emergencies and operational continuity, particularly during events, special programs, and peak activity periods.
• Participate in long-range planning for campus infrastructure, sustainability efforts, and space optimization.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in building operations or facilities management, ideally in a cultural institution, museum, educational, or campus-like setting.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, BMS, life safety systems, and preventive maintenance strategies.
• Experience overseeing or supporting capital improvement projects and renovations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage vendors with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to customer service and responsiveness, particularly when supporting internal departments and public-facing programs.
• Working knowledge of applicable building codes, OSHA regulations, and life safety standards.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is permanent and full-time with a salary range of $75,000 -$80,000. Benefits include 20 days paid vacation leave; 10 days paid sick leave; 11 paid holidays; and 3 paid personal days; participation in a 401(k) savings plans, life insurance; medical/health (including visual and dental); transit, health, and dependent care FSA; and pension plan.

Senior Marketing Manager
Summary
The Senior Marketing Manager plays a critical role in executing compelling, mission-aligned marketing and audience engagement strategies to drive new and repeat attendance to MoMA PS1 in its 50th-anniversary year and beyond. This role leads initiatives to grow and broaden local audiences in Queens and North Brooklyn through targeted outreach, partnerships, and community engagement. Overseeing advertising, digital marketing, and content strategy across multiple channels, the Senior Manager ensures cohesive storytelling and strong brand presence while managing performance metrics, budgets, and vendors. Collaborating closely with colleagues across PS1 and The Museum of Modern Art, the Senior Marketing Manager drives creative, data-informed campaigns that deepen audience connections and expand the museum’s reach.
Responsibilities
- Develops and executes integrated, results-oriented marketing and audience development campaigns to drive museum attendance in accordance with audience goals.
- Drives growth of local audiences, a key goal of MoMA PS1’s Strategic Plan, nurturing relationships and spearheading outreach to our community in Queens and North Brooklyn. Leads cross-departmental working group tasked with focused outreach to these audiences.
- Manages advertising campaigns—from developing strategy to media planning and creative development through execution, launch, and budget tracking—across a wide range of channels, including print, OOH, digital, onsite, and broadcast.
- Develops and maintains relationships with key tourism partners to drive visitation to the museum.
- Oversees day-to-day marketing operations, including project management, budget oversight, and liaising with agencies and vendors.
- Develops social media and email marketing strategies and schedules to support the Museum’s programs and audience goals, balancing visual, promotional, and creative content.
- Evaluates the effectiveness and impact of marketing initiatives, using insights to optimize content and campaigns; oversees periodic reporting and communication to colleagues.
- Collaborates with colleagues at MoMA to ensure robust inclusion of PS1 content in MoMA’s emails, across social media channels, and on moma.org.
- Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 or more years’ marketing experience, with preference for those with experience managing direct reports. Experience in art museums or cultural settings preferred.
- Working knowledge of SEO/SEM, Google Analytics, and paid digital advertising.
- Web and social media CMS, project management software, email CRM.
- Proven track record developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns across digital, print, and experiential channels.
- Strong audience segmentation and targeting skills, with an understanding of local demographics.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $82,500 - $87,500.

Security Officer
Summary
Security Officers interact with visitors in a positive and welcoming manner, including providing directions and information related to the Museum collection, public programs, and events.
Supervision
Reports to: Security Managers and Security Supervisors
Responsibilities
- Communicates Museum policies regarding the safety of the collection and ensures staff and visitors adhere to established protocols to safeguard the collection from damage.
- Conducts opening and closing procedures, including inspection of assigned galleries and surrounding areas to guarantee there are no safety issues or concerns prior to opening the Museum to the public.
- Performs patrols of assigned areas of responsibility and reports issues and/or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Completes daily log and other security reports as required. Reports and responds to emergency incidents (e.g., medical emergencies, natural disasters, etc.).
- Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above, including exterior facility patrols, escorting contractors/vendors, etc.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred. New York State Guard License required. CPR/AED/FSD and/or Fire Guard certification preferred, but training will be provided.
- A minimum of one-year security or customer service experience.
- Prior museum/art-related experience is a plus, but not required.
- Fluency in languages in addition to English preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain professional demeanor in a challenging and dynamic environment.
- Detail oriented, with the capability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to climb stairs and stoop/kneel in order to perform security duties.
- Ability to work weekends (five-day workweek includes weekend days).
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $18.00 – $20.00 hourly.

Curatorial Assistant
Summary
The Curatorial Assistant supports the Chief Curator, senior-level Curators, and guest Curators on a project basis focused on all manner of exhibition development, research, coordination, and execution including a wide scope of curatorial functions such as preparing bibliographic and biographical research, managing exhibition and artwork production, helping track expenses, building exhibition checklists, TMS entry, and catalogue research and coordination. The Curatorial Assistant also works on public programs and conducts other general curatorial work to support the department, collaborating across teams to ensure that needs around exhibitions and other programs are communicated and fulfilled.
Supervision
The Curatorial Assistant reports to the Chief Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs and works in close collaboration with the rest of the Curatorial and Production teams in the development, coordination, and execution of programs.
Responsibilities
- Supports checklist development, as well as exhibition and artwork production, and participates in weekly production meetings.
- Manages with Curatorial, Production, and External Affairs the preparation of exhibition checklists and press releases and schedules work to be done within the Museum and without, in such areas as photography, public information, tours, etc.
- Liaises with artists, galleries, and organizations involved in exhibitions and related programs.
- Assists with the planning and writing of wall labels and text.
- Conducts and prepares bibliographic and biographical research of current and future exhibitions.
- Conducts catalogue research and supports the coordination of publications.
- Books necessary travel arrangements for artists and collaborators.
- Conducts ongoing research of artists, specific works, locations of works, photograph sources, and answers related inquiries from the public and scholars with regard to such information.
- Answers general curatorial inquiries and conducts gallery tours as necessary for visitors.
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of experience in curatorial positions or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary art.
- Proven experience in managing and executing the planning of exhibitions and working with colleagues and artists to realize ambitious programs.
- Exceptional judgment, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive situations and matters.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively prioritize and manage time, juggle multiple duties and tasks, and meet deadlines, as well as ability to manage frequent shifts in priorities.
- Experience managing multiple projects with competing deadlines; anticipating project needs and problem solving accordingly.
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge and proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google suite including Drive, and video conferencing platforms.
- Knowledge of TMS or related databases is a plus.
- Proven organizational ability and attention to detail.
