UNIQLO Family Day
February 28, 2026
- Upcoming
Join us for UNIQLO Family Day, a free, museum-wide celebration of creativity and imagination. Participate in hands-on artmaking workshops led by artists and create projects to take home. Little ones can explore shadow, movement, and space in a toddler-friendly environment. All ages are welcome to partake in the activities, inspired by our current exhibitions.
The day features three timed sessions with drop-in activities throughout the museum. Explore your family tree with artist Lizania Cruz, learn community braiding with weaver Cassandra Mayela, and watch animations by Juegos Translúcidos. See how time moves and glitches in activities inspired by Ayoung Kim: Delivery Dancer Codex, and use acrylic markers to create time capsules inspired by Four Dilations. MoMA PS1 is a place for all—bring the whole family to experience the fun.
Imagining Your Neighborhood! (all ages)
Led by Lizania Cruz
Draw your favorite places, people, animals, and plants in your neighborhood, or envision something that doesn’t yet exist, and add them to a collective map.
Communal Braiding (ages 5+)
Led by Cassandra Mayela
In this participatory braiding workshop, weave individual stories into a collective artwork rooted in care, connection, and cultural continuity.
Shadow and Shine (all ages)
Led by Stina Puotinen
Explore color, transparency, and light by creating collages and activating them through overhead projection, inspired by the building blocks of Yto Barrada’s courtyard installation.
Bending Time (ages 2+)
Led by Ariadni Vezyroglou
Drawing inspiration from the parallel worlds in Ayoung Kim: Delivery Dancer Codex, craft tools for spacetime travel using upcycled materials that bend light and space.
Miniature Minutes (ages 5+)
Led by Rhonda Weppler
Use clay to sculpt an object for a time capsule, inspired by Four Dilations, which explores ways of measuring and experiencing time.
Sculptures in Motion (ages 3+)
Led by Rachael Guma
Using found materials, build an upcycled mobile inspired by the kinetic sculptures in Four Dilations—watch your creation spin, sway, and come to life.
