SAAID Presents

In the aftermath of the second wave of the COVID-19 crisis across South Asia, South Asian Artists in Diaspora (SAAID) formed to create intentional space for South Asians looking to organize, educate, and agitate against the forces that contributed to this crisis through art and culture. This live event in the MoMA PS1 Courtyard, co-organized by SAAID, features music, poetry, dance, and comedy from artists in the diaspora including Rafiq Bhatia; Qasim Naqvi; Sunken Cages (Ravish Momin) and Ivvy; Utsav Lal, Rajna Swaminathan, Immanuel Wilkins, Ria Modakand, and Ganavya Doraiswamy; Sonny Singh and Ernest Stuart; DJ Rekha; Sham-e-Ali Nayeem, Shiv Kotecha, and Pranav Behari. The program will also be livestreamed on this web page.

On the day of the program, SAAID will also be taking over PS1’s Instagram to raise awareness and funds for COVID-19 mutual aid relief across South Asia, featuring conversations with Dalit scholar and activist Yashica Dutt, New York State Assembly Member Zohran Kwame Mamdani, and SASI (South Asia Solidarity Initiative) co-founder Prachi Pantankar.
