On the opening weekend of Daniel Lind-Ramos: El Viejo Griot — Una historia de todos nosotros, join us for a conversation between artist Daniel Lind-Ramos and writer and curator Dr. Julia Bryan-Wilson. Expanding upon social art histories, the conversation will consider and contextualize how working primarily from Loíza, Puerto Rico anchors Lind-Ramos’s practice. Dr. Bryan-Wilson will connect craft and material conditions throughout Lind-Ramos’ work to legacies of labor across the Caribbean. This event is part of MoMA PS1’s Open House.

El fin de semana de la inauguración de Daniel Lind-Ramos: El Viejo Griot — Una historia de todos nosotros, acompáñanos para una conversación entre el artista Daniel Lind-Ramos y la escritora y curadora Dra. Julia Bryan-Wilson. Partiendo de las historias del arte social, la conversación considerará y contextualizará cómo el trabajar, principalmente desde Loíza, Puerto Rico, ancla la práctica de Lind-Ramos. La Dra. Bryan-Wilson relacionará las condiciones artesanales y materiales de la obra de Lind-Ramos con el legado del trabajo en el Caribe. Este acto forma parte del Open House del MoMA PS1.
Julia Bryan-Wilson's most recent book is Louise Nevelson's Sculpture: Drag, Color, Join, Face (Yale University Press, 2023). She has received numerous awards, including the ASAP Book Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Frank Jewett Mather Award, and the Robert Motherwell Book Award. She teaches at Columbia University and is Curator-at-Large at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo.

Daniel Lind-Ramos lives and works in Loíza, Puerto Rico. He received a BA from the University of Puerto Rico and an MA from New York University. He was the recipient of a 2019 Joan Mitchell Foundation grant; the 2020 Perez Prize; and in 2021, he received a MacArthur Award. Lind-Ramos has been featured in solo and group exhibitions globally, and his works are in major collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; The Perez Museum, Miami; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico, San Juan; and Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, San Juan.
Daniel Lind-Ramos vive y trabaja en Loíza, Puerto Rico. Recibió una licenciatura de la Universidad de Puerto Rico y una maestría de la Universidad de Nueva York. En 2019 recibió una subvención de la Fundación Joan Mitchell, el Pérez Prize en 2020 y una beca MacArthur en 2021. Lind-Ramos ha tenido exposiciones individuales y colectivas en todo el mundo, y su obra es parte de importantes colecciones incluyendo el Whitney Museum of American Art, Nueva York; Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington D.C.; Solomon R.
