Family Festival

Kids are taking over the museum at MoMA PS1’s Family Festival!

Join our museum-wide celebration of creativity for artists of all ages. Make art, explore interactive environments, enjoy family-friend dining, and dance to the DJ beats of A Parently Kidding. The festival opens a space for imagination, inviting children to create new worlds, encounter artist-created installations, build fantastic structures, and transform recycled materials. Tickets will be available in early June, and are free with timed entry. Capacity is limited, so sign up for our newsletter to be notified.

Building Together
Stack, arrange, and build fantastic towering structures using blocks inspired by Yto Barrada’s Le Grand Soir. Recommended for ages 2–5.

Silkscreen Prints
Layer designs using a silkscreen to create your own Family Festival poster. Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Assemblage
Arrange everyday objects to create a unique work of art. Recommended for ages 2 and up.

Paper Fan Making and Communal Leaf Garden by Little Manila
Decorate a mini hand fan to take home, and contribute to a community artwork. Take something to carry, leave something to grow. Recommended for ages 3 and up.

Giving Thanks Game by Tecumseh Ceaser
Learn some native vocabulary while also participating in a game. Choose a card representing something to be thankful for, learn the word in Algonquian, and take the card to color or decorate. Recommended for ages 4 and up.

A Soft Place to Land by Lexy Ho-Tai
The world can feel hard. Being human is strange. Let’s create a soft place to land. Welcome to this ever-changing squishy world, lovingly stitched from upcycled textiles. Recommended for ages 2–6.

RE-PURRRRPOSE: An Upcycling Interactive Cat Toy Workshop by Whitney Claflin
Using leather cord, cardboard, and fabric, participants create personalized string toys for cats. If there’s no furry friend at home, cat toys double as excellent wands! Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Golden Crowns of Queens by MALIKAH
Decorate your own golden paper crown to celebrate who you are, where you come from, and what makes you feel powerful. Recommended for ages 4 and up.
