To celebrate the opening of Freedom to Grow: The Lower Eastside Girls Club & jackie sumell, MoMA PS1 will host a drop-in open house, including readings, tea-tastings, discussion, and dance. Marking the culmination of two years of collaboration between artist jackie sumell, the Lower Eastside Girls Club (LESGC), and PS1, the afternoon offers opportunities to hear more from sumell and the youth about their ongoing creative partnership and the process behind creating their installation.

From 2 to 3 p.m., join the LESGC youth in the lobby where they will be serving tea and discussing the healing properties of plants grown in the Courtyard as part of Growing Abolition. At 3 p.m. the youth will read from their zine, Freedom to Grow, which was created for the exhibition, followed by a dance performance by LESGC intern Madison Colón. This event is free and open to the public.
